Von Birken

One of my favourite finds this week thus far comes from Brooklyn based Studio Von Birken. It took me a while to actually get a decent screen capture but it was worth it in the end! Lovely stuff.
Here we go again

Enric Aguilera Associates have some great work, but the site is bloody hard to get into. I would save you the frustration, but where’s the fun in that?
On a roll this week

Dfraile have some quality stuff set in everyone’s favourite. I have to say there are a lot of really decent Spanish studios out there, you just have to find them! Luckily SI does that for you so you don’t have to. I’d also like apologise to Dan for yesterday, today and probably tomorrow
Matt Luckhurst

Matt Luckhurst a recent graduate from BDES, sent me an email about his new portfolio site. He has some nice stuff and does what many of us wish we could do with a paintbrush.
3 Kilograms of Helvetica

These have to be the sexiest bags I’ve seen in a long time and they don’t use 75 Bold?! I believe they used 77 Bold Condensed and I have to say this weight of Helvetica looks so damn fresh. The bags were designed by 3KG, a multi-disciplinary studio situated in Sapporo, Japan. I can think of at least two people who will be crying tears of joy. They know who they are ![]()
Jon Plasse, Photographer

Mr. Andy Jacobson, wrote to me regarding his latest project for photographer Jon Plasse. I’m liking what I’m seeing.
“I love books. I like the tactile quality of a book, feeling its weight, turning its pages, holding it by its spine.
So when jon plasse asked me to design his first book of photographs–and mine too–i jumped at the chance.
I began this project by listening to jon describe each photograph…the location, the thoughts running through his mind, the memories associated with each image.
Passing moments is a collection of photographs, taken by Jon, of the places he and his mother, Sherley, who died this past year, explored together during early morning walks.
And so, a decision was made to present jon’s work without distraction. to allow the reader to have his or her own thoughts running through their mind as they view each image. And Jon’s very personal essay, presented on the cover, is ghosted, revealed only when light reflects off each word.”

Crew

I remember the early days of this blog when I could count how many hits I received per day on my fingers - it wasn’t a good look. So when I received an email from Sarah at female blog team Crew, I was more than happy to help their blog reach more people. Whilst I tend to stick with design that I think is “sexy,” Crew appreciate other aspects of design as well as touching on other forms of Art. So do them a favour and add them to your bookmark list. Apologies to Sarah for not using the crew logotype, I just couldn’t resist using lower-case Helvetica Bold for a short and sweet name like “Crew.”
Back in Black

As you will probably know by now, this blog was orginally meant to showcase personal projects/updates until it took on a life of its own! So here is my latest offering for photographer Erika Pham. I tried to take, what I like to call, the “sex on paper approach.” It’s only one half of my final Uni project (for my first year); I still have another project to go and I only have 1 week to get it done!

You may have read Antonio’s post on AisleOne about changing the design of his blog. I have been thinking for a while about changing my creative moniker from “September Industry” to just “September” as most studio’s these days have short/1 word names. It’s also a pain in the backside when it comes to designing stationary because I can’t use big bold type as the name is too bloody long! Great, for the name of the blog, but for professional usage, “September” is probably more suitable. Any thoughts?
Sexy Stuff

Blok have some very sexy stuff. Their Museo Marco project has one of the most elaborate finishes I’ve ever seen. SEA would be jealous
Project Projects

Project Projects is Brooklyn-based graphic design studio that do lots of nice cultural and environmental stuff. I bet you didn’t know that Antonio
