T&Cake Identity
Identity design for T&Cake, a new Yorkshire based modern café. Consisting of stationery, packaging, website (content managed by T&Cake), signage and interior design input. Run by established restauranteurs Tracy & Stephen Jackson (previous owners of The Weavers Shed, former Yorkshire Restaurant of the Year) in the small northern town of Almondbury.

Save for last February’s beast of a special feature on Print-Process for which Build designed the identity, I don’t think I ever got round to showcasing some of Build’s more recent work ever since their 2010 website relaunch… That is until now. Fashionably late as is the SI way, but better late than never ;)

(And for all you font fiends out there, I included the names of all the typefaces used is each of the projects above!)

  1. The young designers kit looks awesome… want one! :) The combination of the grid pattern and the typo looks both technical and playful.

  2. David

@Nina – Agreed! I think the grid pattern gives this project that extra panache and I love how the the type is slightly offset from the grid too. It’s classic form follows function as opposed to being purely for decorative purposes :)

  3. Michael

Thanks for the post – so generous of the designers to reveal the typefaces used! The Generation press icon system is genius!

  4. Adam

David; Do you take the pictures yourself or do you get them sent over this good from the designers?

  5. David

@Adam – I get them sent over “this good” from the designers ;). Occasionally I might do some levels/colour correction and/or retouching to get rid of that pesky bit of dirt in the corner, but most of the time the images I receive look tip top i.e. they don’t need anything done to them.

  6. Aidan

I love Builds work – they seem to be able to create effortless looking design whatever the brief. This level work of is certainly something I aspire to.
The identity for T & Cake is beautifully crafted – this could be my own bias however, as it’s based in the town where I live. Can’t wait to get down there to check it out!

    @ T&Cake Identity

    Wow! Great Work.

  8. It’s like being Charlie in the Chocolate Factory, makes me want to lick the screen!

Proper ace work. (Massive fan of the T&Cake Identity)

    Long live the Designers Republic.

  9. Build’s print work is fantastic.
