dn&co.

Cheers to to Joy at dn&co. for giving me the heads up regarding an update to their site and their Flickr (which seems to be all these rage these days, but who can blame them? ;) ) Nevertheless, they have some nice, clean, considered work which I just couldn’t say no to.
Pictured is some printed literature they designed for 14 St George Street, a contemporary office space is the swanky area of Mayfair.

Nice work, nice studio space, nice use of Helvetica, not so keen on the website though!
and it’s seems that every design studio in London sports the Eames Office chair?!

Its the same in Bangkok as well. Its either a trend, or we all just have the same taste, which would makes us a bunch of clones… ;)
The Aeron is also popular as well.

  3. I like their studio space.

Come on, everyone knows that clients won’t take any design agency seriously if they do not stock some form of Eames or Herman Miller furniture…! ;-)

Hahahaha, I know they are probably ergonomically sound for all those long hours in studio, but I find the Herman Miller chair (think it’s called Aeron??) quite an ugly piece of apparatus!!

There is an element of truth to that ;)

I must admit the Eames is comfortable, but the the Aeron on the other hand, is just a regular office chair on steroids, It looks so bloody ugly and yet it’s quite expensive! The Barcelona chair however, will always be my favourite chair of all time, its just a shame that there isn’t a higher version.

  6. I sit on the Aeron at work actually , and yes it’s a little ugly perhaps a bit too sci-fi, but it is comfortable. The design I think was inspired by the dragon fly’s wings I think…
Its bloody expensive too, think they were going for about £1k each! The clever money is on Herman Miller’s ‘Mirra’ chair – a newer design, ten times more comfortable, and half the price.

But you know the real criminals of agency furniture are not the eames or miller chairs – no, the real criminals are those embarrassing bean bags!

Haha I actually own a Barcelona Chair David, it’s the jewel in my crown of my expensive hobby of collecting 20th century furniture, I also recently purchased a Noguchi coffee table, which almost melted my credit card!!!

Hahaha at the bean bags, yep to help create the comfortable, informal and look at us we’re crazy environment!!!

Don’t get me started on beanbags! I despise the things!
I have heard the Aeron is comfortable hence the reason why many designers use it, but for me, design is king. I want to look good when I’m designing ;)

You are a lucky bastard! I presume you bought an original from Knoll?
The Noguchi table is a nice piece although it’s a tad bit curvy for me. You must really like that table if you decided to fork out hundreds of pounds on it! But do you actually use it? ;)
