Over the past few months Mr. Daniel Freytag (creative director of BERG) has been busy putting together and curating – Editions of 100 – an online gallery/shop. The idea is to make original limited edition design objects available for sale by invited designers, photographers and artists and off course ourselves. Initially they”ll be offering screenprints and gyclée prints but plan to expand to letterpress, tees, tote bags and design objects in the near future. As the name suggests, each work is hand numbered and strictly limited to 100 editions.
They are currently getting things under way with work by Andy Altmann (Why Not Associates), Ross Colquhoun (Human Resources) and Berg with Greig Anderson (Effektive), Kelvyn Smith (Mr Smith Letterpress Workshop) amongst others in the pipeline.
“Beyond the design aspects we’re keen to get our hands dirty, making objects, printing objects or simply having the freedom to create for a non-client based project,” explains Daniel, “It’s amazing how hard it is to design with only yourself to please. Be careful what you wish for!”
Editions of 100 is also really interested in the idea of making design available directly to creatively minded individuals and seeing what the response is. Whether people love it or hate it, “the important thing is that we enjoyed the process of designing each piece.” says Daniel.
Thanks again to my good friend Daniel, for the high-res images.
