North/South/East/West Packaging
North/South/East/West is a collaborative art and music project from Give Up Art, our good friend and ace photographer Shaun Bloodworth and Bleep.com – the digital arm of Warp Records. It focuses on the music of some of the most exciting electronic producers from four different regions of the world — North and South UK and East and West coast USA.
Stemming from our work for London-based record label Tempa, club nights at FWD›› radio station Rinse FM, and our 2009 trip to Los Angeles, we developed the project in conjunction with Shaun and Bleep, to produce a photographic and bespoke package that would accompany a musical document of the scenes. The final product is a limited edition, deluxe package available via the Bleep.com website, and becoming the first ever official Bleep release (BLP_001).
500 hand-numbered editions were produced compromising a custom wallet printed in fluorescent and metallic inks on pale green stock, containing A5 portrait prints of the featured artists, plus and a 12 track CD (with 9 exclusive tracks). Plus a further edition, limited to only 100 copies, this time printed onto grey stock. Comprising again of the portrait prints and CD, with the addition of an A2 poster, featuring previously unseen portraits and extra shots from the project. Available to buy here.
Dubstep Changed My Life Poster
Prior to our 2009 trip to Los Angeles we produced this self promotional poster, which showcased a selection of UK music design projects that GUA have created in collaboration with the photographer Shaun Bloodworth. Produced as an A2 poster, it was also cut and folded down to form an A5 booklet. Containing a short, introductory piece from BBC Radio 1 DJ and experimental music champ Mary Anne Hobbs.
Various copies were placed in LA record stores, flyposted around town and given away at the club Low End Theory; where we also held a small exhibition.

I always like to end the week with a bang and today’s special feature is no exception: 3 recent projects; 19 hi-res images which all come courtesy of Stuart @Give Up Art – a London based studio that focuses on “top notch graphic design, for a range of clients in the music, publishing, advertising and broadcasting sectors.”
All I can say is: the dubstep scene should be grateful to have this studio contribute to their culture, in particular Tempa (The original Dubstep record label) for whom they’ve designed every release.
Hope you enjoyed this post and have a great weekend folks. Keep your eyes peeled for more great work from GUA shortly… ;)
Diary of an Afro Warrior Packaging
Design and art direction of the full album campaign for dubstep superstar-producer Benga. The CD packaging features an O-card slipcase, with a solid black jewel case and all black CD. Superb photography from Shaun Bloodworth, that carried over into all subsequent 12″ single releases.
