The Typographic Circle, Doug Hamilton, Tribes of One
Doug Hamilton was the principal of Wolff Olins and responsible for the quality of their creative output. As one of the firm’s most original thinkers, he has extensive experience of working on large-scale projects.

The poster and invitation were executed using only typography (Akzidenz Grotesk) for purity of approach, employing only em dashes to create a sense of visual image.

Phoebe Cummings—Fragments
Phoebe’s work explores the rich mystery and history of objects which surround us. Cummings takes great delight in playing with scale and space, and her work deals with the way in which we think about objects, materials and representation. With this mind the approach taken in designing the invitation and catalogue for the show was to create a sense of connection between two separate pieces. The invitation was an A6 printed section of the oversize A3 catalogue echoing the show’s theme of fragmentation. The textural qualities of Phoebe’s work were also highlighted through the use of Robert Horne’s Curious Touch ‘Milk’ paper which was printed all white on white bar the last spread which showed fragmented thumbnails of each piece in full colour.

@Marc Indeed! I love how the isometric grid is exposed in the second poster – really adds to the overall composition.
