Mode

I’ve been gagging to post this since last week (Cheers to David for the reminder); nevertheless Mr. Ian Styles, has his own Flickr page which features some very nice pieces of work he completed whilst at his previous company (he co-founded) Mode.

Pictured is an branding/identity piece designed for Barton Engineers. My initial interpretation of the concept was that of an abstracted floor plan/elevation, but I couldn’t be sure, so I got chatting with the Style man himself:

“Barton engineers was based on a graphite line foiled/embossed into the paper which was a modern interpretation of the first mark you make on paper when drawing with a pencil. The shapes are abstracted classic proportions you use to make things work in engineering.”
