Matilda Saxow

I’ve been patiently waiting for a certain Matilda Saxow to have a fully functioning site, but unfortunately she still hasn’t got round to making the magic happen. Oh well, at least her pdf portfolio is worth downloading!

  1. Beautiful. (Thats all Iv really got to say).

    She’s also responsible for the current state of Grafik in case you didn’t know.
    She’s one talented lass.

  3. I’m trying to think of different adjectives because Dan’s already used the most appropriate one, amazing work.

  4. Yes David, I was aware, although, and I hope this doesn’t reflect too badly on me… But i feel that Grafik isnt what it used to be, I miss the old Grafik. :((. I will say thought its not terrible, not by a long shot but again its that old problem of following a great act on stage…. MadeThought, Sea, etc etc. Matilda although is one extremely talented design and a gust of fresh air.

    You’re not alone on that one. Like you said, Madethought and SEA’s direction for the magazine was a hard act to follow. Matilda has done a great job, but it isn’t enough to make me buy the magazine anymore. The content of the magazine itself is also another reason why I take a look through the pages and consequently place it back on the stands. I find it so much easier to get inspiration from blogs, without having to lose 7 odd quid on a magazine.

    Maltida = excellent
    Grafik = sh*te

    The contents gone all arty farty low-fi, the sort of thing you’d see on Manystuff. Not my cup of tea.

    Another great post from dave the rave – its just relentless.

    Matlida’s work is typographic refinement at its best. The ICA identity pitch is just genius – why on earth did they not go for this?

    To wade in on the Grafik depate, I love the new design but would agree that the content has slipped in recent times. Still buy it from time to time though as in my opinion its by far the most beautifuly designed / concidered mag on the shelves – much like September Industry….oohh – thats gotta be a few more beers in the bank Dave!

    Couldn’t agree with you more. They say that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but as a designer, that is perhaps, one of the most important things to judge a book by. A ranged left logo and a photograph featuring “do-it-yourself type” doesn’t do much for me unfortunately.

    Cheers for the compliment mate. SI is all about quality not quantity :)
    And yes that’s a few more beers for you ;)

    Hello Sam

    interesting point about the ICA identity.
    It was one of the ideas proposed to the ICA among others by the Spin team from what I hear

    The ICA pointed out that Mathilda’s idea was good but more of a campaign idea than an identity
