Tom Dixon Newspaper
Design Mind Design

This newspaper is published once a year for the Milan Furniture Fair. Not an easy job since all the new products get finished in the last minute and therefore all content comes in very late as well. It also has some advertising unfortunately.
We played with typical newspaper elements like horizontal bars on large titles but used them in a rather loose way. We also structured the whole collection into material groups (shown on the centre spread) which links with the catalogue that we designed at the same time. Seeing the paper being printed was exciting. This press reminded us more of the machines in The Matrix than the trusted Heidelberg Speedmaster we are used to.

You may recall Mind Design being mentioned in a previous post however I never got the chance to feature them properly! Here is yet more Tom Dixon loveliness taken from their rather hefty pdf portfolio – it’s worth the download, I can assure you.

  1. thanks for showing our work. I just wanted to mention in fairness that the Tom Dixon logo (which is rather big on the front cover) was designed by GTF. We did this years newspaper design but not the logo. That was already there and has been used for many years.

My pleasure :) I did mention (in a previous post) that GTF were responsible for the excellent Tom Dixon logotype. But of course not everyone in this world will have read that particular post, so thank you for the reminder :)
