Daam Identity
Design NB: Studio

Hope you appreciate the image because it was rather difficult to get hold of; but you know me, I always go out of my way to satisfy you punters ;)
The Daam mark is based on Fregio Mecano, an anonymous modular typeface designed in Italy in the 1920′s whereby all of it’s letters and numerals can be made using combinations of 20 segments. Because of its segmentation and architectural nature (you have to “build” each letter), NB: Studio felt it provided a perfect base for a typeface for the Daam identity.

From what I’ve seen in the past, NB Studio’s work is really nice.
But their site is so frustrating… you can’t really see the projects, just little cropped pieces of them. In many cases the only thing shown is a big photograph… did they take the photo? Art direct it? If not, why is that featured so prominently?
Designs like this Daam identity (pictured above) are really fascinating and inspiring, I just wish I could see more of their work.

  3. sites are like wine? good to taste it, let it “work? let the expression, the “message arrive? i guess we have misunderstanding about designers,or at least a traditional point of view as good design have to be RIA based fast food= “just gimme that impression and let me go forward” It is not possible with this attitude we miss lot of detail just as if we drink a liter of wine in a minute? It is not possible we don’t understand it at all? It is not possible this is the reason of crazy surfing habits? The “hunger”?
