-
Artist/Title – Boys Noize Bugged Out Mix
Format – CD
Client – New State
Photography – Marius Hansen
[/column] [column width="48%" padding="0%"]Photographed by Marius Hansen, the theme for this Bugged Out series was to have each artist on the cover, but rather than a straight portrait the artist are obscured in someway. With this one, Boys Noize didn’t like showing his face at all so i suggested the tights and he loved it. the typeface is Futura Condensed ExtraBold Italic.

Artist/Title – Aril Brikha Ex–Machina
Format – 12″/CD
Client – Peacefrog
Photography – Jim Green
[/column] [column width="48%" padding="0%"]2×12″ EPS and CD featuring photography by Jim Green. The shots were taken in Iceland and Jim had shown me them a Month or so before the Aril project began, when i heard the new Aril Brikha album the 2 parts came together very naturally. The front has a spot UV gloss finish, whereas the back have the matt finish, so the 2 sides feel quite different. The jewel case had a white tray with no type on the cover apart from a removable clear sticker with white text. The typeface is again a custom made font by me for this project.

-
Label: New State
Photography Mads Perch
[/column] [column width="48%" padding="0%"]The Bugged out compilations are always great projects to work on because we are given complete creative freedom to do exactly what we want. Rich will come up with an idea and I will give my input on how we want the shots to look and feel, lighting and composition etc. Brodinski was very easy to work with and was keen on having a quite moody look and feel, something that reflected the style of the mix. The slashes were added to give the concept that slightly twisted edge the music conveys.

-
Photography Mads Perch
[/column] [column width="48%" padding="0%"]I had photographed Paul for an editorial a few years back , we got along well and decided to keep in contact. When Paul asked me to do his new press shots, he pointed out that he wanted something more considered than an off-the-peg photo shoot that is all too common nowadays. Working with Richard, we formed a projection using large solid blocks of colours creating a dynamic striking and memorable image.[/column] [end_columns]

[column width="48%" padding="3%"]Klaxons: Surfing the Void
-
Label: Rinse/Polydor
Photography Mads Perch
[/column] [column width="48%" padding="0%"]After a boozy night out with myself, Richard, Jamie Reynolds and new live band member Anthony Rossamondo we ended up back at Anthony’s flat where our attention focused on firstly a fictional record for Richard and then on the new Klaxons sleeve. Before long we were looking at random pictures of cats in spacesuits and laughed at how striking a massive billboard would look, and that was the beginning! We soon set about making it a reality, the label hired a real space suit from the US, Richard designed flags and badges to complete the picture. All that was left was to get Jamie’s cat in the spotlight and hope he was up to the task…. We couldn’t have asked for more, he was a true pro and we sent the back-up cats home![/column] [end_columns]

Mr. Mads Perch, a Danish born London based photographer, just so happens to be a self-confessed fan of SI, so obviously I had to showcase his crisp, understated photography on the site one way or another. Whilst I was busy prepping his debut feature for SI, a certain Richard Robinson (art director & designer for small record labels such as Polydor and Island amongst others) gets in touch about his newly launched website and seeing as these two gentlemen have collaborated many times in the past, I felt it made sense to do SI’s first ever double feature. Enjoy!

Thank you once again to Mads and Richard for the nice big images, info and for supporting SeptemberIndustry. Legends, the both of you ;)
