Anna Schwartz Gallery Identity
Design Round

“The brief from Anna Schwartz was to revise the existing gallery identity while making it appear that ‘nothing had been added or done to create an identity.’ The Gallery’s agenda is single pointedly focused upon the promotion of art.

We designed an identity that is reductive – incredibly paired back, disciplined and acts as a frame
for the primary communication. The meticulous selection of stocks, substrates and premium quality production wins out over the volume of the design.”

Round are an Australian consultancy I’m familiar with but never once (in the 2 years I’ve been a slave to this website) had the chance to feature them on SeptemberIndustry strangely enough. It was only the other day – whilst browsing Ffffound! – that I came across the image you see above which consequently reignited my interest in this great studio. I’m telling you there’s some great stuff coming out of Australia right now :).

    This looks very nice.

The challenging aspect of a design like this is, unless it is printed and cropped perfectly by the printer, the width of the frame device varies on each piece, which tends to looks like a mistake. I imagine it would be near impossible for a printer to keep the print consistent.

It does indeed. You brought up a great point regarding the frame device – I guess you could say the inconsistencies give the identity a bit of personality. However in this case it pays for each individual piece to look perfect.
