Awards Ceremony & Dinner 2010
D&AD represents the global creative, design and advertising communities. Since 1962, D&AD has set industry standards to educate and inspire the next generation. Their annual awards are highly respected, and regarded as a major event in the world of design and advertising. Bibliotheque were commissioned to design and art direct the 2010 Awards Ceremony and Dinner.

Conceptually based on the decisive nature of the judging criteria, there is no grey area, is the entry in or is it out? Is it a ‘Yes’ or a ‘No’? Marketing, environmental and ambient executions expressed the concept as a typographic expression of the number of rejections proportional to the acceptances.

Some of you may remember me Tweeting a preview of this project a few weeks ago. Well those weeks have come and gone (rather slowly thanks in part to my internet problems) nevertheless, Bibliothèque have now added the project in its entirety to the projects section of their website.

I don’t know about you, but I’m particularly fond of this solution, maybe because it’s been executed with much rigour and attention to detail :) .

Foreword
It isn’t surprising that Bibliothèque’s new website was the talk of the Twitter town yesterday afternoon – a collaboration with Engage & the team in-house – it not only exhibits that classic Bibliothèque functionality we’ve all come to know and love, but it also hosts a plethora of old and new projects!

I had a bit of a hard time choosing what to feature in this article (that’s what happens when there’s too much choice) nevertheless, I decided to go with 2 of their newer projects followed by 2 of their older, more familiar projects. I’ve always looked for a good excuse to feature their timeless Moving Brands identity and this Ladies and Gentlemen, happens to be the perfect excuse. Enjoy!

‘Revolver’ Exhibition Graphics

“Six Photographers, six shows in one exhibition – Revolver is an exhibition concept that operates in a state of flux. A cost effective graphic system was required to communicate the rolling nature of the show as well as give equal weight to each contributer. Displaying each name in a hexagonal formation they’re treated equally, while also creating a complete path which can be rotated through each exhibiting state. A red rule is then used to define the shape, but also functions – by deleting the names not relevant at that time.”

Dieter Rams’ Ten Principles Poster
Design Bibliothèque

Back in the early 1980s, Dieter Rams became concerned by the state of the world. Aware that he was a significant contributor to that world, he asked himself an important question: is my design good design?

Rams created his ten principles for good design and nearly 30 years on this still holds strong. To celebrate the opening of the exhibition ‘Less and More’ we asked creatively-led graphic design consultancy, Bibliothèque to create a poster of his ten principles.

Some nice work from Bibliothèque designer Tom Munckton. “Nice” isn’t the most creative adjective out there, but the fact that he made it onto SI is already saying something – Quality over Quantity since day one ;)

Milligram is a fantastic architectural practice based in Tokyo. Their identity/logotype was designed by Bibliothèque and consists of a series of vertical lines at varying depths, creating an abstraction of the word Milligram, while simultaneously referencing measurement. I’m not sure as to whether Bibliothèque designed their site or not, nevertheless, it’s still worth checking out as Milligram have designed some really amazing buildings.
