This Studio

This David (no pun intended) got these beauties back from the printers the other day – it’s an A0 poster/calendar for 2009 and it’s one of those things where you want to write on it but can’t, for fear of making it look ugly with your own handwriting. I’ve been like that for as long as I can remember and I’ve consequently wasted a lot of money of calendars and diaries which still remain blank to this day. Speaking of “bad habits,” another one worth mentioning is my hatred for the sticky residue you get on books, having peeled off the price tag/barcode. Why am I so annoyed? You see, I’m paying a considerable amount of money for a book that I could lovingly clutch to my bosom in all it’s pristine, factory glory; but instead I get something that has been “defaced” by the staff working in the shop I bought it from. What kind of sick world do we live in?!

  1. Good find. Warterstones and Borders being the main Culprit!

  2. David

Waterstones are a bunch of bastards. They’re only in it for the money ;)

  3. Annoying sticky residue indeed! Made me laugh David!

Completely nothing to do with this post or design even, I got sent this link this morning for this film -Proud America:
    http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/proudamerican/

I cannot work out whether it is taking the piss or not?
    What do you reckon?

    B

  4. That looks to be a truly inspiring film… erm…

  5. Lol!

Yes – it’s odd for sure, not sure if it’s some kind of screwed up propaganda piece, or if it is tongue in cheek genius?

  6. David

    hmmm……

It’s as bad if not worse than those straight to TV movies!
Forced Patriotism amidst the credit crunch?

  7. Yeh, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that spells out
    A.M.E.R.I.C.A.I.S.D.E.S.P.E.R.A.T.E

  8. David

The fact that the movie is presented by Coca Cola, Walmart, Mastercard and American Airlines, really makes me wonder…

  9. Aha!
    Corporate sponsored muck.
Well they can probably look forward to some massive corporate tax cuts.

  10. But what about the poster.

  11. David

    David,
You can blame Mr. Original Linkage for the lack of comments regarding your poster ;)

  12. er… yeh sorry David(ThisStudio), a total disregard for the poster, apologies.

So hey let’s talk about the poster…

Firstly – it’s a damn nice looking thing, not to mention handy.
In fact I could do with one of these by my desk to be honest.

I have to agree with David (SI) ’tis such a shame to spoil it with your own handwriting, but then, if you do write on it, it becomes something new, and in turn personalised, and personalisation is all the rage nowadays, so that’s a good thing.

    Cheers!

  13. Alright guys! Leave America alone! Things are hard here right now!

Anyways I love this poster. When the economy improves maybe I will buy one…. haha.

    Cheers!

  14. Hey Nicholas,

It was not so much of a criticism of America as such , (I wouldn’t kick a man when he was down ya know!) it was more a criticism of this film.

  15. Hi David,

This lovely calendar is now available on the justgonesix.com shop too. I might have to find some space on the studio wall for it now.

  16. David

    Thanks for that Ricky.

I’ll spread the word. On a different note, I hope your poster reached you well. If it hasn’t then give it another week or so :)

  17. Hi David, yes, its landed safe and sound thanks and very nice it looks too!

  18. David

What a relief! I’m glad you like it and I hope you appreciated the paper label too ;)
I’ve got some other stuff to send over to you soon which is quite different. Watch this space…
