Triboro is an award-winning design studio founded by husband and wife team David Heasty and Stefanie Weigler. They create design solutions for clients in publishing, art, fashion, music, lifestyle, and for cultural institutions. The studio excels both in building inspiring brands from the ground-up and in shepherding established brands into new territories. Today’s SI special feature takes at closer look at some of their more recent projects with additional commentary from Triboro, presented nice and large for your viewing pleasure. ;) Thank you once again to David @ Triboro for making this feature possible.
The Leftovers section of our site is a compilation of unpublished type treatments, photos, sketches, illustrations and logo explorations that we have created over the years. Each design is either from myself or Stefanie or a combination of us both. This is a photo of a book I designed a long time ago, which was to be a street guide to New York.

Album Packaging, single and promotions for the New York band Blonde Redhead. Printed in neon red and reflex blue on uncoated paper stock. To reflect the dreamy quality of the music we chose to hand draw all titles, text and lyrics in a loose calligraphic style.

Identity, retail packaging and promotions for a Chicago haberdasher. The identity we created utilizes a traditional symbol for a “shine” stamped white on all-black packaging. To contrast this strong but minimal system, we designed a decorative graphic Herald printed on the store’s wrapping paper, tissue paper and advertising. Printed in light gold and black, these informative “posters” offer engaging product descriptions and communicate the features and exotic origins of the store’s products.

GQ approached us to design and art direct a special issue of their magazine. The GQ Style Manual is a all-in-one reference for the well dressed man. Lacking advertisements and separated into chapters–the content of the Manual flows more like a book. We developed a grid that slices each spread into vertical segments of varying width. The rhythm created by the grid, along with shifts of scale of the artwork, guide the reader’s eye around each spread and maintains a sense of movement throughout the issue.

William Rast is a fashion label founded by Justin Timberlake & Trace Ayala.
The identity we developed for the brand centers on an abstract reinterpretation of the American flag. The symbol has become an iconic shorthand for William Rast–appearing on T-shirts, neon store displays, fashion show backdrops, advertising and labeling. In addition we have produced all graphics related to the brand including promotions, packaging and collection graphics.
