Wangler & Abele

Sexy German Corporate design from Büro für Gestaltung Wangler & Abele. How’s that for a slice of fried gold!
Pictured is a selection of Visual Communication designed for Munich Airport International, since 1987.

Beginning to think you’d cleared off for the holidays?! :D

That said… thank you very much for all the great links this year David, I’m sure 2009 will bring a stack more (my folio may even be active early 2009!!) Have a great christmas and a happy, healthy new year! (That goes for all the SI readers too!)

Oh, did you ever get to the bottom of who designed the JCDecaux logo? I still can’t seem to find any information about it?!

    Take care all the best!
    Craig!

  2. Aicher is in the details.

Like u_helv I thought you’d made an early start to the holidays!
Merry Christmas David and I look forward to lots more SI goodness in 2009.

Helv you’ve revealed your true identity at last ;)

I’ve been out of the studio these past couple of days, but I finally managed to find some time to get a few posts done!

Thanks ever so much for the kind words and support (I was hoping you’d wait to comment a bit longer because I’ve just finished my Xmas post!)
Nevertheless, have a sexy Christmas and New Year

    Best Wishes

PS. My New Year’s resolution will be to find the designer of the JCDecaux logo!

    Neil,

In the land of the seeing, Aicher is King ;)
It wouldn’t be right just to F-off and not say any parting words to the readers of SI!
Thank you for dropping by and showing some love, much appreciated

    Merry Christmas matey

  5. I’m confused. Aicher designed the logo and the identity for the Munich airport. Has this company just taken what he’s done and expanded on it?

  6. David

    Antonio,

I’m not entirely sure myself, but I believe that is the case – Aicher was responsible for the identity and communications for Munich, there’s no denying that; I think this company is just carrying on his legacy.

Perhaps they worked as part of Aicher’s studio, I dunno if he worked up until his death? (I haven’t had chance to read the monograph yet) as he died in 91 and Wangler & Abele say they have worked with Munich Airport since 1987, so maybe it’s one of those carry over to your next company projects?!

    Helv

I’ve skimmed through the monograph and it seemed to me like he worked until his death. I know there is a connection between the two somehow; because why would they showcase Aicher’s original identity work for Munich on their site? I may need to do a bit of research on this one!
